In the past few weeks I've been noticing the sky like never before. Whether taking in the varying textures of the early morning light, marveling over the ever changing dance of the clouds or gazing at the brilliant splattering of evening stars, I find myself appreciating the magnificent space above us like never before.
Just today, I think I finally figured out why I've been so obsessed with this boundless beauty. When I look at the expansive grace of the sky, it brings into my awareness the fact that we live in a world of infinite possibility. I feel like I am sitting smack dab in the middle of both the significance and utter insignificance of my life.
At this moment in time, I have chosen to take a step away from a certain amount of security and outer "success"in my work to follow a deeper calling. Already the magic that is unfolding around me has been blowing my mind. Opportunities and possibilities are opening up before me just like this magnificent sky. I find myself reflecting on this well known quote by Joseph Campbell.
"Follow your bliss.
If you do follow your bliss,
you put yourself on a kind of track
that has been there all the while waiting for you,
and the life you ought to be living
is the one you are living.
When you can see that,
you begin to meet people
who are in the field of your bliss,
and they open the doors to you.
I say, follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open
where you didn't know they were going to be.
If you follow your bliss,
doors will open for you that wouldn't have opened for anyone else."
I have always loved these words but it wasn't until I actually took them to heart, that I felt the absolute truth behind the poetry. Whatever happens going forward I can already see that being aligned with my deepest purpose is reward enough. Anytime fear starts to creep up on me and I begin to doubt what's possible, I love knowing that all I have to do is look up to remember, the sky is the limit!
