I love getting up early in the morning's when the house is still quiet, the kids are still asleep and there's a feeling of freshness and new possibility in the air. These early morning hours are like a quiet sanctuary for me.
With a cup of tea and a warm blanket, I head to the farthest corner of the house, so that I don't wake anyone up. Here I can dive deeply into my yoga, meditation, chanting and writing. When I start my mornings this way, it helps me to stay balanced in my life. It's like setting the reset button on my nervous system. There's a calm feeling of spaciousness, peace and a remembrance of why I am really here.
I find this time to drop in and connect with something greater, before the chaos of the morning begins is essential. It sets the tone for my entire day. When I take the time to practice, it slows me down enough that I can drop in fully to each moment.
If you are feeling overwhelmed with the busyness of your life, remember you can rest in the quiet sanctuary of the early morning hours.
Try getting up before the sun, in the hushed stillness of a world not fully awake. Here there is space to listen, to feel and to simply be.
